Osaka, Japan - Kyocera Mita Corporation (President: Koji
Seki), a group company of Kyocera Corporation (President:
Yasuo Nishiguchi), and one of the world's largest manufacturers
of office information equipment, including network-ready digital
copiers and printers, has agreed a strategic alliance with
TA Triumph-Adler AG, a leading office information equipment
distributor in Germany and other European countries (HQ: Nuremberg;
CEO: Dr Dietmar Scheiter; hereafter "TA"). The objective
of this alliance is to drive the business expansion of both
companies and is underpinned by the acquisition of 25% of
TA's equity capital by Kyocera Mita, which now becomes TA's
largest shareholder.
The Kyocera Group pursues the "synergistic diversification"
of its business activities, which are focused in 3 key areas:
Information and Communications, Environmental Preservation
and Quality of Life. Kyocera Mita has been driving the Kyocera
Group's development in the document solutions industry. In
2000, the Kyocera Group's printer business and Kyocera Mita's
copier business were merged to become a fully converged document
management business with a common product platform. This has
helped fuel its global expansion. Kyocera Mita's long-life
and environment friendly technology concept, which exists
throughout its product range, has achieved high acclaim in
Germany, where Kyocera Mita enjoys the No.2 market position
in laser printer sales.
Kyocera Mita currently distributes its own-branded products
in Germany, as well as being an OEM supplier to TA. Through
the alliance, Kyocera Mita will increase its support to TA
as it drives its business expansion within Germany and Europe.
It will also benefit from access to TA's network of 80 direct
sales and service branches, and the market knowledge and customer
relations of TA's team of 500 system consultants. This enhanced
sales and service coverage will help to strengthen Kyocera
Mita's market position within Germany and Europe as it develops
its products and solutions in line with the accelerating growth
of digital networks.
